Judo No? Yo Sabe but Your Obviously Not Speaking Spanish...

Sitting in Spanish class is always like the show, Who Wants to be a Millionaire. Everyone stressing which answer could be the right one and why it cannot be the right one....Geesh, pick something already, ya feel me. Also the lifeline is very popular in the class except when its my turn there is no lifeline option for me.  #thanks4leavingmehanging.

YouTube is a Black Belt in BJJ??? (Updated)

Anyone up for discussion about YouTube tutorials for Jits? I made use of the convenient entity and found sometimes it's quite useful. Is there a line to be drawn over video and in-school training? Can too much instruction be bad for a Jiu-jitsu practioners? How do you know if the information from the tutorial is viable? So many discussions can be drawn from this topic...What are your thoughts?

It's all in the enunciation

someecards.com - Whatchu talkin bout Willis?
In martial arts, learning the lingo is important to your understanding the art. Many associated  terms of a martial art comes from the country of origin i.e. Kung-Fu-China, Sumo - Japan, Tae kwon do - Korea. Understanding the terms is just a simple measure knowledge...it best behooves you if your into a martial art.

So that being said on my way home from the gym today, I had a conversation with a martial art aficionado claiming Gracie Barra was "the best Jiu-jitsu school in the city" because he trained there. I agree it is a great school but you don't have to lie to kick it with me. His claims of ever training at Gracie Barra were discredited only because the way he said Gracie Barra. Any gringo will say Barra pronouncing the "r's" like "Bar rah" but any BJJ practitioner will tell you "Barra" is pronounced phonetically like "Baja" because its Portuguese. Then he said the correct pronunciation is saying it with the r's. I was like of course it is, only you say it like the way you would say it in Portuguese.

President's Day Roll

So after a week I finally did get to roll. You can only imagine what I feel like, almost like a person out in the desert stranded with no water, but not stranded too long, then getting that first drink of cold water and just chugging it. Spilling water all over your chest and you really don't drink it you just pour it all over your head like your in a shower and then go get another bottle of delicioso....

Today on the mats I thought I looked good but in reality I was breathing like the guy on the bottom....
